VACATION CLUB – Business Partners own a vending machine business that teaches them business ethics while growing their individual confidence and self esteem. They choose and plan their own vacation and pay for the entire trip with their business profits.
» Check out our most recent trip!! Vacation Club Business Partners went on a ten-day vacation to New Orleans, where after spending some time in the French Quarters eating jambalaya, gumbo, po-boys, and beignets and, of course, site-seeing, they boarded the Carnival Dream. The Dream took them to Cozumel, Mexico; Belize; and Mahogany Bay, Isla of Roatan, Honduras. See pictures and much more of this journey on our facebook page.
» Significant changes are being made within the Adult Day Services rules. These new rules, as well as a funding redesign, are currently scheduled to go into effect November 1, 2016. Along with several other rule changes that have been made, including the new person centered approach to individuals’ ISP’s, counties and agencies around the state are in a transition period. Vision Mentors is working with other agencies and the Miami County Board in an attempt to identify how we may best navigate all of the changes in a way that will least impact programs and services our individuals are currently receiving. Families can expect to see, in the near future, changes to some of Vision Mentors’ programming and services. We will continue to keep you posted.
» The 16th Annual Ohio Adult Siblings Conference will be held November 11 & 12, 2016 at the Embassy Suites in Dublin, Ohio. » CAN-do Business Partners: Football season has begun and that means cooler, fall weather is right behind. Don’t forget to come to work prepared for the changing weather. It can be cool in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons. We suggest that individuals layer up. Wear a tshirt with a sweatshirt, hooded sweatshirt or jacket over the tshirt. Because Business Partners are in the community on a daily basis and are inside and out many times throughout the day, having the appropriate clothing is important. Be responsible – come to work prepared!
» The Ladies Club Adventure trip (the final trip of 2016) has been rescheduled. We’ll be leaving Friday, November 18 for The Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky and returning Sunday, November 20.
We believe that adults with disabilities have the right to continue to grow toward their maximum level of independence. For this to happen, the Vision Mentors staff believes that family, friends, and community must be involved in the consumer's life; must hold the consumer accountable to his or her choices; and must support the consumer's choices. The Vision Mentors' staff coordinates this process to help the clients achieve their goals.
